It is not yet Uhuru for Nigeria’s chef Hilda Effiong Bassey following an update from Guinness World Records as regards her achievement.
The 27-year-old who is currently trending on social media unofficially broke Lata Tondon’s 2019 record by doing a cook-a-thon which lasted over 87 hours and 45 minutes.
While many Nigerians and people from around the world congratulated Hilda on breaking the record, GWR has said it is not official.
The international franchise which began in 1955 was responding to a netizen, @AlexanderDgreat on Twitter, who wondered why they weren’t talking about Hilda’s record.
In a reply via their official Twitter handle, GWR stated that they are aware of Hilda’s amazing record attempt but need to review all the evidence before officially confirming it as a record. GWR reply reads:
“We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”

Influencer Tunde Ednut shared a video showing the emotional moment the 27-year-old sociology graduate equalled and broke Tondon’s record.
The crowd erupted for joy, and applause rent the air as it was announced while an emotional Hilda held her palms together and said silent words.
